According to a tradition (huadeeth), the Prophet (peace and Allah's blessings be upon him) had told the Muslims then that if the new moon was sighted on the 29th of the month of Ramadhuaan, the Eid was to be celebrated the next day. If the new Moon was not sighted on the 29th, the Eid was to be celebrated only after completing 30 days of Ramadhuaan.

The Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS), also known as the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, was established as a statutory body in 1968 when the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA) came into effect. Baitun Noor Holy Khanqah was so named in 1996 by his Eminence Sultan Mohyuddin Imam Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, (a direct descendant of the Holy Last Messenger Muhammad (countless peace and blessings be upon him), the Chancellor of the International Quranic Open University. The Imam faxed a dua (prayer) from the treasure chest of Sultan Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani to be recited on Nisf Sha’ban (15th day of the eighth month of the Islamic calendar) and subsequently upon receipt of the fax the miracles began.
